Imaging suite and urgent care shielding in the Phoenix metro

Radiographic rooms, fluoroscopy and CT are where shielding stops being a line item and becomes a trade of its own. Mesa Lead Lined Drywall builds these rooms for urgent care groups, orthopedic practices and imaging centers from midtown Phoenix to Chandler, as the shielding sub under your GC or direct to the operator.

Room types we build

RoomTypical shielding profileInstalled range
Radiographic room (urgent care, ortho)1/16 inch walls, lead lined door, often a control window$6,000 to $15,000
Fluoroscopy roomThicker barriers, shielded control positionUpper half of the single-room range plus glass
CT suiteHigh lead equivalence, frequent ceiling and floor scope$15,000 to $30,000+
MammographyModest barriers, layout-sensitiveOften near the room minimum

What separates a clean imaging install

  1. Quote built line by line from the physicist’s NCRP 147 report, never from square footage alone.
  2. Penetration plan agreed with electrical and low voltage before rough-in, so shielded walls arrive with the fewest possible holes.
  3. Vertical hanging, 8 inch screw schedule, batten strips at every joint, sheet lead behind every remaining box.
  4. Door frames wrapped and lead glass set to the specified equivalence.
  5. Photo documentation of every assembly before close-in, indexed to the report’s barrier numbers.
  6. Survey support: if an assembly we built reads short, we open and correct it at our cost.

Urgent care, specifically

Urgent care chains build on repeatable floor plans, and shielding rewards that: one engineered room design, priced once, executed at each new site. East Valley operators expanding along the Gilbert and Queen Creek growth corridors use us exactly that way. The workload math in busy urgent care (dozens of films a day) also tends to require more lead than owners expect, a point covered in our Arizona requirements guide.

Occupied buildings and towers

Imaging suites in occupied medical office buildings add logistics: freight scheduling, after-hours phases, landlord close-in inspections, and in midtown towers, post-tension slabs that dictate where floor shielding can fasten. We carry those processes as standard practice, and the published ranges on the cost guide hold in them.
