Dental office x-ray shielding in Mesa and the East Valley

Dental buildouts are the most common shielding job in the Phoenix East Valley, and the most commonly mispriced. Mesa Lead Lined Drywall shields operatories, pano corridors and CBCT rooms for practices from Gilbert to Queen Creek, with published ranges and schedules built around chair time.

What dental machines actually require

Intraoral units are the gentlest machines in radiography, and their walls often need only 1/32 inch lead, sometimes none at all where distance and adjacency work in your favor. Panoramic and cephalometric units step up modestly. CBCT changes the math: cone beam workload pushes many reports to 1/16 inch lead and a shielded operator position. The physicist’s NCRP 147 report decides per wall, which is why we quote from the report rather than from the machine’s brochure.

The operatory pattern we see weekly

  1. A practice adds a CBCT to an existing suite planned only for intraoral.
  2. The report calls for lead in two or three walls plus the door side.
  3. We shield those walls over one or two evening phases, back the outlets and data drops with sheet lead, and photograph everything before patching.
  4. The physicist surveys, the practice never closes a full day.

What it costs

Operatory wall shielding runs $2,000 to $6,500 installed for the typical one-room scope, depending on wall count and lead thickness. A lead lined door adds $2,500 to $6,000 when the report requires one, which for dental it often doesn’t. Full ranges live on the cost guide.

Why East Valley dental groups keep our number

  • Multi-operatory rollouts priced once, executed identically at every location.
  • Evening and weekend phasing so hygiene schedules survive the construction.
  • A documentation file (certs, photos, report cross-references) that makes the verification survey uneventful.
  • Straight answers when a wall does not need lead. Smaller invoices, longer relationships.
